ABOUT CHRISTIN BONIN

With a background performing at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and appearances in over forty operas, I bring extensive stage experience to my work. My career also includes several years of touring across Europe, performing in operettas, musicals, and popular music alongside internationally renowned artists such as Udo Jürgens.

In 2004, I founded my Munich-based vocal school, Star Me Up, specializing in contemporary styles including musical theatre, jazz, and pop.

Over more than a decade of teaching and directing, I developed a distinctive method for belting technique, combining artistic freedom with a strong focus on vocal health.

I am the author of the vocal method books Belt Voice Training – Singing with a Belting Voice and Singing Makes You Happy, which reflect my ongoing exploration of belting as both a technical and artistic practice.

This work culminated in my PhD dissertation, The Broadway Belt – The Musical Diva and Her Belt Voice from Technical, Ethnic, and Feminist Perspectives, developed alongside my Master of Arts in Musicology at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich.

Alongside my academic work, I began teaching at the university level, leading public workshops and masterclasses, and contributing to international conferences—continuing to connect research, performance, and pedagogy.

My artistic career began early, performing in a local dance band at fifteen and leading my own rock band by seventeen. I went on to study classical voice and piano, laying the foundation for a versatile career across genres.

During my studies, I performed at the Stadttheater Koblenz, first in the chorus and later as a soloist, while also exploring Broadway musicals and German chanson. At 21, I was awarded the Günter-Neumann-Preis at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin.

My work has since taken me across international stages—touring in musicals throughout Europe, performing and recording with artists such as Udo Jürgens and Roland Kaiser, appearing as a guest artist on cruise ships, and presenting my own music as a singer-songwriter.

Alongside my work as a singer, I have also appeared as an actress in film and television, created and performed my one-woman musical Single Well, and released my own music as a singer-songwriter on CD and streaming platforms. In addition, I have authored vocal method books, further expanding my work into pedagogy.

Given this range of activities, my professional profile is less defined by a single role and more by the intersection of performance, creation, and teaching.
